The Phenom II X4 955 can run on an AM2+ motherboard, but the RAM must be DDR2. The CPU supports DDR3, so you can use DDR3 as well. Yes, it’s possible to use DDR3 with this board.

Not mentioned anywhere. I’m not too worried, and even if it’s an issue I’d avoid damaging this motherboard since it handles a crucial task—running the family NAS.

Technically it isn't accurate, though some systems use AM3 CPUs that appear as unknown. I've successfully used a Sempron 145 (AM3) with an M2N-SLI Deluxe.
