Phantom pain FOV adjustment setting.
Phantom pain FOV adjustment setting.
We obtained a FOV mod for Phantom Pain. Initially cautious about the download due to Chrome warnings, most users on Reddit reported success. I set the FOV to 95 and found it performed well in various positions—especially when crouched or crawling. Simply extract the files to your Phantom Pain .exe folder and modify the configuration settings as needed. Download link provided: http://www.adslgate.com/dsl/showthread.php?t=2159434. If you wish to adjust framerate, open the Steam user data folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\181945646\287700 and use Notepad to change framerate from auto to variable. This will allow higher performance. A few screenshots illustrate the different FOV settings at 95.
Only 1080p resolution. Frame rate is fully unrestricted. I experience drops to 55 on 1440p, which is pretty obvious.
Reduce the brightness slightly. It appears clearer at 1440p resolution.
The wider field of view doesn't necessarily improve performance; it can actually cause frame drops in certain situations. Particle effects and sudden movements like jumping can trigger these drops, leading to lower FPS even with a larger view.
