I’m having trouble getting the router to recognize a connection or display an IP address when it does. I just purchased a Dell PowerEdge R210 II with an Intel Xeon processor, 1240 cores, and 8GB RAM.

Check if you're connecting via the built-in NIC ports or another card. Confirm whether PFsense detects all your ports or some are not listed.

You're checking if PfSense recognizes the NIC ports on your board. I recommend resetting the SSD and following a step-by-step guide from a tutorial. For a thorough reset, look for detailed instructions on reinstalling the OS. Regarding the best method, ensure you use the correct procedures to avoid data loss.

Ensure the NICs are activated within the Dell BIOS settings. If they aren't enabled, you won't be able to view anything from pfSense. It seems you've configured the network interfaces in the console. After starting pfSense, press 8 to access the console/shell, then type "ifconfig" and share the output—it will clarify the current status.
