it functions well with these cisco fets 10g fiber modules, but rebooting disables the adapter and forces the "select interfaces" screen at startup. manually adjusting the link speed isn't possible since the system auto-selects it. the behavior is similar to the onboard intel x557 on the supermicro board and the intel x520 add-in card—no obvious system tuneable settings appear. you might try using fiber cables only after booting, or consider removing them during startup if that resolves the issue.

It seems the modules might not work well with the cards, so you might want to look for better alternatives.

FET SFP+ modules are exclusive to Cisco products and only function with Cisco FEX modules at 10G speeds. From previous use, they operate reliably only in Cisco devices.

i’ve tested everything with the microtik hp and tp link switches at 10 gig using the entrexox adapters, but after some reflection i’m more confident the modules aren’t sharing link data properly. i’ve ordered some intel sr modules (ftlx8571d3bcv-it) and i think it’ll work smoothly from now on.

The Intel SFPS is available today without any problems. Compatibility is important, as I've heard about FS.com and believe you can also reprogram it. Personally, I handle enough volume to make sure that works.
