PETG tube bending issues after shaping
Hello everyone, I'm facing some issues bending PETG tubing. I believe I have the right part, but it becomes pliable when it starts to soften. I'm wondering if I'm applying too much heat too quickly. Should I let it warm up longer before bending? I've been increasing the temperature once it reaches that stage, but I worry it might cause bubbling. The tubing is Alphacool 16mm OD 13mmID, and I've attached photos of my attempts so far. Any advice would be really helpful.
The usual method involves a silicone rod with the same thickness as the pipe’s interior. If using copper, fill it with sand and seal the ends or apply a spring around the exterior. It seems you’re attempting to create very tight bends, which could stretch the plastic significantly.
It doesn't really affect the outcome if the silicone insert is slightly smaller than the tube's interior.
I searched for help in this article, hoping to discover solutions. I wasn’t applying enough pressure. When the tube begins to resist bending, give it a few more moments of warmth before proceeding. The method I’m using is functioning properly. Mistakes from the user caused the issues.
You already had a template ready. Both internal and external versions existed, yet it remained unstable. Heat was the only factor that made a difference. Accurate outcomes were possible with proper heat, but without a form.
