Personalized setup for xfce4
Personalized setup for xfce4
Hello! I'm looking for a panel with great customization features that works well with xfce. I'd love something similar to the standard awesome-wm but more flexible, maybe even with nice weather display options. Thanks! P.S. Some people suggest just using awesome, but it's been a while since I've tried that—it's just not my style anymore.
Check GitHub for "xfce4 panel" and explore available forks or variations. Many plugins exist on GitHub to broaden the customization options for xfce4. For those interested, I used to enjoy xfce4 personally, but now i3 is a better choice. It's easy to learn and highly adaptable. If you have time later, consider trying i3 for tiling and other window managers—you can even use it in traditional mouse drag mode like xfce4.
Thanks, but I've found no good enough forks of xfce4 panel. Moreover, the xfce components are bound together so badly, that patching just one of them can ruin everything (from personal experience). Functionally, xfce panel is ok for me, but it could have looked better. When I was using i3 last time (about 4-5 years ago), it was really bad. Awesome seemed to me like an i3 on steroids (just like fish shell and zsh, you know), and I see lots of i3 posts in /r/unixporn. Right now I'm looking at polybar. P.S. Hm, first post? Welcome to forums!
