I needed to release some frustration after the letdown from trying Infinite Warfare. First of all, the last time I played Call of Duty’s multiplayer was a long time ago—back when the original Call of Duty was first released. Even though I’ve always enjoyed the single-player campaign in its original form, I recall the strong emotions I felt during CoD1, its expansions, and CoD2. The powerful soundtrack combined with a realistic narrative gave me a deep sense of being just another soldier navigating the conflict. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Black Ops 1 were also solid additions, offering realistic stories and well-developed characters, thanks to Price! He kept the franchise as my top war game ever. For the campaign, I still prefer Counter-Strike in multiplayer. The issues started with Black Ops 2 and other titles like Ghosts and Advanced Warfare. The exaggerated fantasy and unbelievable plots ruined the immersion for me. Ghosts lacked that authentic touch; raids were chaotic, missions felt meaningless, and the story didn’t guide you effectively. Unlike Modern Warfare’s attempt to unite South America or the USA, I doubt it would ever happen in reality.

Moving on to Advance Warfare, it worsened the problems—consistency dropped, a private company overshadowed nations, and controlling the UN felt like a poorly written story. It reminded me of the Campaign issues in Battlefield 4, where missions felt arbitrary and meaningless. I felt the same about Modern Warfare’s attempt to force global conflict; it didn’t make you feel involved, just another level for more kills.

Despite these setbacks, I stayed loyal to the series. My brother bought a refurbished copy for 12 dollars, and after some troubleshooting—boosting my memory from 1GB to 6GB—I finally got through. The graphics ran at 2560x1080p/75Hz with v-sync, which surprised me. It felt more realistic compared to games like Assassin’s Creed Unity or The Witcher 3. The intro was brief but felt dated.

The first mission immediately dropped me back into the game, with a similar setup to Advance Warfare’s start. Three soldiers took down an entire enemy squad, destroying a heavily guarded research facility. It was a repetitive, action-packed sequence that offered no real story depth—just mindless combat. I ended up killing enemies easily on Hard difficulty, but the experience lacked any narrative weight or engagement.

All in all, while I remained hopeful, the technical issues and lack of substance left me frustrated. Still, I kept playing because I didn’t give up on the franchise.

I had a similar experience when I played Black Ops 2: Transit. I was really excited back in 2012 when they introduced Transit alongside Avenged Sevenfold. Later I got my hands on it—it felt like a mistake. After that, I didn’t play much of the Zombies campaign for the whole game, especially focusing on Borderlands 2. But recently, after repurchasing Black Ops 2 on Steam, I really enjoyed it. Mob of the Dead and Origins are now among my top favorite maps.

I thought the campaign was awesome. Cool environments. Mass effect type mission select was neat where you pick what mission. Off rails space fighter battles which were surprisingly good. I never had any crashes, and CoD has always been about taking out an un-realistic amount of dudes just cas I could bring up examples in CoD4 if you want. The graphics by modern standards are fine, nothing spectacular i agree but the faces are done better than i have seen in any other game. Honestly really fun campaign. Multiplayer was good too, i think im just getting a little bored of the core game mechanics of CoD and would rather just play CSGO. If you can sort out whatever is crashing your game I recommend you stick with the campaign cas honestly its pretty epic. One does not play a CoD game for it nuanced and realistic campaign, they have always been a little big ridiculous although they may have gotten more so, I still don't think this should be a deal breaker for fans of the series. As you are someone who enjoyed the earlier games, did you get CoD 4 remastered bundle? What did you think?

This version was made just for the IW, that’s all—I don’t mind much about it. I’m not someone who buys remasters, haha... As I mentioned, yes, I get that the goal wasn’t realistic, but the older titles definitely had more authenticity. There’s no doubt about that. Maybe I used to enjoy the old approach better... I was planning to remove it, but I had to be in the kitchen and didn’t, so I might give it another shot. Fingers crossed I’ll see the “epicness” you mentioned eventually. Still not there yet.

Immediately following that initial task, things start to fall apart. I believe you're going to enjoy yourself.

I loved the original Cod franchise a lot. MW1, BO, MW2, BO2 and then MW3 were where it began to lose interest. I bought ghosts but disliked the multiplayer aspect. The campaign wasn’t very engaging either, so I never completed it. I never got AW or IW because the mech warrior elements didn’t match what I wanted in a COD title. Used to finish the full campaign before trying the multiplayer, but newer releases (after BO2) made me really uninterested. The only part I still enjoy is playing splitscreen zombies with friends.

I've tried Ghosts (XB1) and Advanced Warfare (PC). Advanced Warfare was more enjoyable. I don't play COD often. I don't back FPS series that exploit players for money yearly or constantly release new reskins. The only FPS games I've played recently are Battlefield 4, L4D2, and CS:GO.

Once everything was sorted and the game ran smoothly, I dove into the moon mission. The speed improved noticeably; although it started a bit slow, things are getting better. It’s great I didn’t uninstall it yet—though I probably won’t keep it for multiplayer after finishing the campaign. Cheers to that!
