In March 2023 I swapped my ~15-year-old Phenom II setup for a custom-built PC and faced some sporadic stability problems. I upgraded to a Ryzen 7700 ASUS TUF Gaming 4070 Ti MSI Pro B650-P with Wi-Fi 2x16, GSKill TridentZ Neo RGB PC6000 Cl 30 DDR5, Crucial P5 Plus 2 TB NVME, Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB NVME, Seagate Barracuda 2 TB HDD, and an EVGA Supernova Platinum 850 W PSU. Everything ran smoothly for about a month until gaming would crash repeatedly. I resolved the GPU driver issues, and everything worked well for two weeks. Afterward, gaming stability returned, but occasional hiccups reappeared whenever I powered down the system. I believe the problems occur during shutdowns, which don’t happen often. Recently there was a power outage—my PC woke me up, I shut it down quickly with a strawberry, and the UPS sounded. Then I powered it off overnight for a cleanup. Both shutdowns triggered instability, though restarts seem to fix it. I’m hoping someone smart can help me figure out how to prevent this. Any idea if Anthony is around? (He’s been a bit of a thorn in my side at LMG—bet he’ll help!)

GPU BIOS got updated the first time this happened (bout 2 weeks ago). System BIOS is on early march 2023, MSI is on a rampage with new BIOS(es) and i'm waiting for them to get done with it ( you know...week without new BIOS). It's like my system is not shutting down properly, but why that would corrupt exclusively NVIDIA's drivers I don't know. On a totally unrelated note, would anyone know where in a MSI (click) BIOS you would find the drive priority setting? (NOT boot order, that i can find) See...I built the system with a 2 TB NVME and a 2 TB HDD (980 pro came later - i just didn't like the naked M.2 slot). When i installed Windows 11 I expected it to ask where to install to - it didn't, I expected it to ask me to partition - it didn't, I expected Disk Management to tell me which drive is which - it didn't (you actually have to dig into drive properties to identify your drives, cause apparently Microsoft doesn't feel that info is important enough to put on the main screen of Disk Management. So Windows 11 installed to the HDD, which Crystal Disk Info informed me of on its main screen. I then had to clone to HDD to the NVME and use Acronis to delete the extra partitions you get with a boot drive, cause windows knows not how to do that (on the HDD, not the NVME). For the live of it I can't find a drive priority setting in the MSI BIOS. And for god sake i can't fathom what drives MSI to prioritize a HDD over an NVME. (first time power was even connected to the system it had both drives installed)
