Hi everyone. I ran a single GPU pass-through today and my PC stopped working after I tried to reboot the guest after installing the display drivers. The drivers installed fine, but I was told to restart—then it crashed and the screen went black right away. I reset the CMOS and unplugged the PC, but it still wouldn’t boot with the GPU connected. After resetting the CMOS and waiting a few minutes, I tried power cycling, but whenever I plug in the GPU it fails again (see video). Anyone have any tips or solutions for this issue? Thanks!

I started up in my virtual machine and installed the drivers. When it asked me to reboot, I did so via the Windows restart option, and my computer crashed. Since then, everything has stayed the same. I've already tried with an older graphics card; it worked when I reset the CMOS.

I removed all my HDDs except the boot drive. I have 2x4 GB of RAM, so I didn’t take that out either. My PC started working properly with a R9 280 3 GB model. After it booted and I turned off the IOMMU in BIOS, I swapped the graphics cards again, but there was still no noticeable change.

This situation restricts my options for using a different PCIe port, but I'll proceed anyways.

the gpu shows signs it's working. upon closer inspection, you notice insufficient power being supplied while the other card remains connected.
