Hey there, I just finished setting up my new PC two weeks back and decided to do some performance checks. I was surprised to see my scores were lower than before, even though I kept the same settings. I only changed the graphics card since my ASUS ROG STRIX 5700xt is only a few months old. Here are my specs: CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X, GPU - ASUS ROG STRIX 5700xt, RAM - 16GB DDR4. My old PC had: CPU - i7 4790K, GPU - ASUS ROG STRIX 5700xt, RAM - 16GB DDR3. During the bench tests with Unigine Superposition, my old machine scored 5339 FPS (avg 39.93), while mine came in at 5236 FPS (avg 39.17). I’m not sure if adjusting AMD Radeon settings could help much, but I noticed a tiny difference that would make a big impact. Let me know if you can help! Thanks, Thomas.

Superposition is unusual. It’s the only platform where my CPU overclock scores lower than stock. You might want to test other platforms.

Which one is superior, valley or heaven? Your old PC benchmarks are helpful—use them to check your current performance against those results and track your improvements. Thanks!

I run Heaven on a single CPU core. Valley doesn’t appear to put heavy strain on the GPU, so I skip using it. For optimal performance, go with the 3DMark benchmarks which include a physics test.

Thanks again for your reply. I ran additional benchmarks on valley and heaven, but both scores were still lower than my previous setup. I chose to test valley as well since it wasn’t the GPU I’m focusing on—only that part is stable across these tests, and I want to evaluate the CPU and other components. I plan to try 3DMark later, but I can’t compare results without testing my old PC on that platform.

Gamers Nexus shared a review of the i7 4790K alongside their R 3700X performance data. It might offer some useful insights.
