Performing a random restart without using Bosd
The pc worked well a month ago without any problems, but recently while playing Battlebit Remastered it stopped and came back on unexpectedly. What caught attention was that the RGB stayed on instead of turning off, only changing after launching ICE software.
I’m wondering about the weather first—are things hot? Could your PC be overheating due to the summer heat? Maybe it needs some cleaning or additional fans. My second thought is that your power supply isn’t strong enough to run the computer smoothly. Frequent restarts without BSOD usually point to hardware issues rather than software problems. Cleaning up the software, refreshing the system, and updating can sometimes make a difference.
I believed it was overheating too, so I cleaned it out this morning. Even with the temperature checks before it failed, they never exceeded 75°C. Thinking it was over, I planned a fresh Windows install, but it still required a restart. Here are the system details: CPU Ryzen 9 5900X, Motherboard Asus Tuf X-570 Plus, Wi-Fi, RAM Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB (64GB), GPU Evga RTX 2080, 8GB, MSI GTX 1060, 6GB RAM, Case Corsair 220T, Storage Crucial P5 1TB NVMe M.2, Samsung 970 Evo 2TB NVMe M.2, Western Digital Blue 2.5” SATA SSD, PSU Corsair HX1200, and Cooling Corsair H150i Elite Capellix.
I ran additional tests, updated to the latest ASUS BIOS from July 17, 2023, and kept the same issue. I added my old CPU, a Ryzen 7 3700X, and it hasn’t rebooted. Is the CPU faulty or is this just e-waste?
