Performance worse than expected for a gaming rig?
Performance worse than expected for a gaming rig?
Hey, I've just upgraded my system thinking it would handle everything smoothly at 1080p on an ultrawide display. However, I'm facing quite inconsistent results with most games.
I'm experiencing a lot of stuttering and generally poor FPS, often seeing similar specs as others but with a much smoother experience. For instance, I expect to run 'We Happy Few' comfortably at reasonable settings, but it frequently drops just above 30 in grassy areas.
Here are my details:
- GPU: GTX 1070 8GB
- CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 (slightly overclocked to 3.6GHz)
- RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB)
- Storage: 250GB Kingston SSD for some titles and a standard 7200RPM HDD.
- Device: Dell Inspiron 6575 (upgraded over time).
If anyone can assist, it would be really helpful since I'm struggling to identify where things are going wrong. I noticed better performance with a 6GB 1060 in some games—could there be a bottleneck? I assumed the Ryzen 5 wouldn't limit performance at 1080p. Thanks!
Noticing the absence of memory frequency details and timing information, I understand where you may have missed. Ryzen's performance relies greatly on memory speed, so even small errors in dual-channel configuration significantly impact results. Obviously, higher frequencies are preferable, especially in games that highlight memory dependence on performance across Intel systems.
It seems there are driver-related concerns or performance issues. Your computer is quite capable and well-balanced; you should see improved outcomes. Consider installing the latest GPU drivers via DDU for a fresh setup.
Thank you for your responses. Your motherboard only has two slots, both are full. They operate at 2400mhz, but since you're not very familiar with the timing details, it's hard to comment on that. I recently reinstalled the drivers, but nothing changed. I'm really having trouble figuring out why this is happening. The textures in GTA V aren't loading properly and I'm experiencing a lot of stuttering, so I'm running out of ideas now haha.
