I managed to get an older style Unifi AP-AC a few months back. It’s running with default settings, and I’m seeing slow response times when pinging google.com. Switching to a different Asus AP improved the results. There don’t seem to be any router or cable issues—this is likely an AP problem. Have you heard from any Ubiquiti experts?

The square AP-AC units aren't ideal at first. They struggle with 5Ghz and may overheat. Still, how were you configured? Using controller software? (the latest versions don't support it)

It's really unusual to see such consistent poor performance. It's quite remarkable how bad it can be, especially since I configured it with a local controller on Windows. I now understand that you could run the software on a server, but it wouldn't significantly change the outcome.

Only a single setup is needed; the basic AP mode doesn’t require a controller to operate. To be honest, this AP is just poor quality and offers very limited functionality.
