I assembled a used PC today, around 500 EUR. It includes an RTX 3060 with 12GB RAM, a Ryzen 7 3700X, two 16GB DDR4 sticks at 3600MHz, a 1TB SATA SSD, and an ASUS A320M Prime board. After booting up, everything functions properly—CPU stays at 47°C idle, GPU at 48°C idle. I ran Cinebench R20 and BAM; the Ryzen reached about 80°C, scoring 4590 points. For gaming, the RTX stayed below 75°C, while the Ryzen hit 78-79°C. Since my room temperature is often around 29-30°C, I wondered if this was too hot for a desktop CPU. Typically, Intel chips run cooler, usually in the high 60s. Are Ryzen processors that hot?
I experienced the same issue and it stayed hot regardless of cooler or fan speed. They advised it shouldn't overheat, so perhaps yours is faulty too? During OCCT or Prime95 it reached 90°C, but normal operation stayed around 60-70°C when I used the PC.
This seems typical to me... what's the problem? Which case are you using? I'm wondering about Intel's cooling performance—usually they run hotter, especially at default settings. The GPU is relatively low power, but the CPU feels a bit warmer than ideal, though still normal. Just to clarify, what case are you in? Overall, it doesn't look like a great cooling setup, but the temperatures are still safely within normal ranges. For context, my 3070 typically hits about 70°C under load (35-39°C idle), and my 5800X3D around 70°C under load (30-35°C idle).
Even though 80°C feels mild, it's not a cause for concern. For cooler conditions, ensure proper case ventilation and increase the CPU cooler fan speed.
