Performance slowed down unexpectedly with frequent disconnections.
Hello, I've been using my Dlan adapters (TL-PA4020P ver1.1 and TL-PA4010P ver2.3) alongside my PC for quite some time now. Recently, they've been causing issues. They only manage to deliver around 60 Mb/s of the 500 Mb/s capacity they're supposed to provide. Our system can handle up to 1 GB/s, making them the limiting factor either way. They also don't cooperate with the official TP link software available online (probably due to version differences). It seems they aren't affected by it. Additionally, they occasionally drop the connection for a few seconds, even after resetting and re-pairing them multiple times. Until recently, they've never gone offline long enough to run a Windows-based diagnostic or retrieve an error code. However, just two hours ago they stopped working completely. Windows reports "Ethernet has no valid IP_configuration," and I've tried various fixes—such as setting IPv4 to auto-assign IP, updating the network adapter, or disabling fast startup in Power Settings—but none of these resolved the problem. I now realize the issue must lie with either my DLan adapter or one of the LAN cables they're connected to. Since my phone has WiFi and my PC still gets internet (about 500 Mb/s at the moment) when using a 10m LAN cable, it suggests the problem is with the physical connection. I'm really frustrated and would prefer to replace them if they weren't so costly. Hopefully, someone here can help me out. Thanks in advance.
The issue with powerline is that any device connected can introduce interference. These adapters are limited to 100Mbit ports, so they can't exceed that limit. The 500Mbit refers specifically to the link between devices, and if other devices had faster ports, supporting all of them would prevent bottlenecks—unless everyone uses compatible speeds. Even with Gigabit ports, you won’t get 500Mbit from a 500Gbit connection because of protocol overhead, similar to how WiFi has its own overhead. There’s a Reddit discussion noting that PowerLine 2000 only reaches about 500Mbit at best.
