Your GPU seems limited, likely due to your CPU. In Task Manager, switch the CPU view by right-clicking the CPU graph and selecting "Logical Processors." Are any cores exceeding 80% utilization?

Are the charts showing individual CPU cores? Yes, this setup uses Doom while my computer runs.

They indeed do. Four cores are solid, the remaining four handle multiple threads, though that detail isn't crucial at the moment. What matters most is recording the graphs once your frame rate falls. The visuals look quite strong in that chart.

I began a new save file where the frame rate wavered unpredictably, hovering around 45 to 100 frames per second. Here are the system details during that intro sequence in Doom Guy smashing a demon’s head.

It seems mostly fine, though some cores are near 80. An i7 shouldn’t face such problems. Your GPU looks good with enough VRAM, and it’s likely your RAM is sufficient. I’d say the CPU is limiting performance. Consider easing the settings a bit more.

You're seeing stable performance with lower settings, which is great. With a Haswell i7 CPU, it's unlikely your GPU is the main bottleneck unless you're pushing very high resolutions or frame rates. It might be worth checking your GPU's power limits and thermal management, but a new CPU isn't usually necessary unless you notice significant drops under load.

The 4770k isn't brand new either, but it's not very recent. Switching to a 4790k without changing the MOBO or RAM would likely help. Going up to a 6600k or 6700k would offer more long-term benefits, though it would require replacing the MOBO and RAM.

I'm likely to explore creating a new system later. I'll pass this system on to my father so he can utilize it for composing music and working.
