Hey, yesterday I spent three hours on GTA V before switching to League of Legends. My FPS in the game dropped by about 30 to 50 compared to normal. I looked at the temperatures—my I3 4170 was at 35°C and my R9 280X at 38°C. During a stress test with AIDA64, the CPU hit 77°C and the GPU reached 78°C, but there was no thermal throttling. What might be causing this issue?

Perform a 3-hour stress test and report the outcome. Alternatively, run Unigen Valley and see what happens. It might get hotter later and then slow down.

Well, that seems to be the problem now.

Adjusting to 30-50fps or lowering to that range? What’s your typical frame rate? Also share the full system details. There’s no chance you’re overheating at those speeds—what’s happening here? Your current temperatures are already within safe limits. Intel, nVidia, and AMD GPUs handle up to 85°C.

Detailed specifications: I3 4170 R9 280x 8 GB RAM AS ROCK HDS H81M R2.0 WD Caviar Blue 1 TB Cooler Master B500 version 2. Performance drops between 30-50 fps; League cap at 144 FPS with frame rates around 95-120. Would you like me to stress it for three hours?

It's not obvious during gameplay. It occasionally appears in the background and begins to rely more on the CPU. This suggests it's the least efficient part of the system.

It isn't functioning properly even after a restart. That's unusual. I usually use Afterburner OSD and monitor CPU, GPU, RAM, temperatures, and clock speeds. Try to link lag spikes or frame drops to changes in these metrics. Earlier today, my GTA performance was very poor. Checked the OSD and noticed only 2GB of RAM being used. It turned out Windows thought it needed 3GB. A short restart resolved the problem and restored normal speed. My main issues were minimal RAM consumption and low GPU activity.
