Performance problems in Forza Horizon 5 on RX 6650 XT graphics card
I just began using FH5 with my RX 6650 XT and everything runs smoothly at 1080p, except for Extreme, which didn’t cause any problems in other games either. Benchmarks were around 80fps, but I’m only seeing about 40fps. My setup includes a Ryzen 5 5600X, Cooler Master Hyper 212 black edition, 32GB DDR4, 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX, 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD from Kingston, and a Tx550m PCIe M.2 SSD. My PSU is Asrock B450M HDV, and the motherboard supports PCIe Gen 3. Temperatures stayed between 55-60°C on both CPU and GPU. I ran Prime95 overnight to confirm stability, checked my Windows installation, and suspect the PCIe Gen 3 slot might be the problem.
None of the RX 6000 series reaches saturation on Gen 3 x16, except the hardwired 6500XT which caps at x8 and requires a Gen 4 board for peak performance. Ensure XMP is enabled and adjust settings to reduce output before performance drops noticeably. Presets offer the closest 1:1 benchmark results, though updates may affect game behavior. Also, provide your CPU and GPU load readings in Forza using MSI Afterburner. https://www.msi.com/blog/msi-afterburner...en-display
The 6600 series is an x8 model, and the performance drop isn’t minor. However, it’s unlikely to be the main cause of the OP getting only half the frames per second.
Perhaps shaders processed in the background or through other methods.
