Hey, let's take a look at this situation. You're using a mid-range setup with your AMD 3700X, ASUS Prime X570P, and Gigabyte GTX 1080 Windforce OC, which already has a slight factory overclock. Recently, you've noticed games running slower than expected. At first, I thought it was just the usual aging effect—my monitor upgrade to a higher resolution helped, but then things got more puzzling.

I found an old benchmark log from December 2019 showing 78 FPS on that same setup. The notes mention your graphics settings and even the monitor specs. I decided to replay the game with identical graphics options, including the 1440p display, and was shocked to see only 43 FPS. That’s a 45% drop!

I also checked the power usage: around 66W from the motherboard and 93-97W through the GPU cable. A review I found suggested higher wattage for this card, and another test showed it's still behind its peak performance. Even with short sessions, the GPU stays near full load, which isn’t ideal.

I tried a few fixes—swapped cables, changed connectors, reinstalled drivers, even removed the side panel—but nothing helped. The temperatures are manageable, but they don’t explain the performance loss. I’m also curious about the PSU; it seems to be handling the load well, so that might not be the issue either.

It looks like this GPU might be struggling under current settings or with power delivery. I’m not sure if it’s failing completely yet, but it definitely needs a closer look.

Your current Windows setup appears quite old. I can source a 2.5" SSD from any location and perform a clean installation to verify the system is functioning properly.

I believe the Windows setup was installed several years back, around three years ago. I plan to take advantage of this opportunity to upgrade to Windows 11.
