PC specifications were updated.
I replaced my old i5-2400 with a new i5-4690k and bought an MSI Z87-G41 motherboard for $50. Some CPU pins were bent, so I bent them back with a needle. Performance is now similar or worse in games compared to the previous model, with significantly higher CPU usage. Idle usage is 10-20%, and in Space Engineers it reached 92% with around 70-80% CPU usage while only achieving 15-20fps. On the i5-2400 I usually got about 40fps. The CPU temperature is around 25°C at rest and up to 100°C under load, using the stock cooler. I’m wondering if the issue relates to the motherboard or if the CPU is faulty.
I also thought I should reinstall my OS after upgrading both motherboard and CPU.

Yes or there will be various issues windows users worry about, particularly with changing boards. Ensure your thermal paste is applied properly to assist with temperatures if the problem continues after reinstallation.
