Performance of Ryzen 5 5600 under load Boosting characteristics
Hello, I recently moved from an R5 1600 to a R5 5600 on an ASRock AB350M Pro4. I’m noticing something odd with the performance curve. I thought the 5600 would run above its base clock during heavy tasks like Cinebench, but it stays around 3.6-3.7GHz while using about 77 watts. The Wraith Spire cooler works better than the previous one, and temperatures at that power level are normal (~82°C). If I switch PBO from auto to enabled, the CPU power jumps to 130W and all cores briefly hit over 4GHz, but the cooler gets overwhelmed—just as expected. Are you correct in expecting the CPU to stay at stock 77W? Your specs show a Ryzen 5 5600 G.Skill Ripjaws 2x16GB, 3200MHz CL18, on an ASRock AB350M Pro4 with Corsair CX450M.
Yes. Particularly noticeable during heavy tasks such as Cinebench.
Wraith spire is a small cooling solution, so replace it with an affordable 20$ model like the burst assassin or assassin king. Once installed, enable pbo for better boost clocks. If it doesn’t run smoothly at least 4.4 allcore, adjust to 4.7-4.8 allcore 1.4v vcore or lower it to 4.5ghz with 1.3v vcore. Both options avoid LLC issues and prevent vdroop.
Something else that's also weird is that while playing a light game like league it's drawing 65watts and is at 80c maybe i have a power virus or something(i guess league in itself is a virus)
