Performance of Dead Rising 3?
I reviewed the totalbiscuits video on dead rising 3 and noticed serious performance concerns. He was achieving about 40fps at the highest settings in 1080p. I was concerned since my setup wasn't quite the same, but I still played the game. My frame rate stayed steady between 60-75fps with occasional drops to 55fps. Watchdogs also struggled to maintain a stable 60fps, though I don’t recall their exact numbers. My experience is around 45fps with watchdogs, but I managed 60-70fps when driving. Someone else has noticed similar issues with dead rising 3, or maybe my rig is just handling things better. On another point, why do framerates drop so much lower for total biscuits compared to my setup? He’s running a 4770k and dual titans, while I know titans aren’t a big jump from the 780ti. Still, I’m curious why he’s having trouble when my system performs better in similar situations.
Titans perform less efficiently in gaming compared to the 780ti. Keep that in mind. He was also running on a single card, not dual, and SLI isn't available at the moment.
When you put in a lot of money, you hope for top performance. I purchased the second or third highest tier card available at that time. I anticipate all my games will run smoothly at a minimum of 60 frames per second on maximum settings. Previously, I relied on older laptops for gaming, having to lower the resolution to 800x600 and stick to the lowest settings just to maintain around 30 fps. Now that I’ve experienced the quality of modern games and have the necessary hardware, if my results fall short of expectations it could stem from coding issues. In that case, we have a valid reason to voice our concerns. @twoscoops I mentioned it sometimes drops, but after playing for about an hour the lowest I saw was 45 fps—though that was just a brief moment. Overall it averaged 60 fps. I’ve enabled an overclock on my card, which likely helps a bit. Still, I was surprised by the significant difference compared to his setup. Perhaps my overclocks are improving my FPS, though I’m just curious and not complaining.
I receive a smooth 60 frames per second using an R9-290 and a 4670K. No slowdowns observed.
I usually see around 25-30 frames per second on my setup (locked), since only one of my 670 models runs due to no SLI support and I'm running the game at 1600p. In cutscenes it drops to about 10-15 fps. I've experimented with GeForce Experience to automatically adjust settings, but it always defaults to low quality and forces the renderer to 720p. This is really disappointing. I'd actually enjoy playing through the lower frame rate, especially during intense open-world zombie battles with powerful abilities, but I can't keep it running for more than ten minutes without crashing. I won’t change my drivers or disable options in the control panel just to play one game. The developers can fix it, and NVIDIA might release a better driver set. It's nice I didn't preorder or buy it through Steam for around 50 euros. I found it on CJS Keys for £22.50!
