I recently got a 240Hz ultrawide monitor and it seems my system isn<|pad|>, can't push frames to their full potential. I'm looking at MW2 since it offers the best stats, but I haven't found a game that runs above 200FPS. All tests are in 16:9 for easier comparison. A MW2 benchmark with minimal settings at 1440 native and 720 render resolution averages around 169 FPS. From what I see online, with those configurations your setup should hit 300+ frames per second. The benchmarks show CPU at 169 FPS and GPU at 369 FPS, with a 99% CPU bottleneck. I've tried overclocking the 3900X both manually and with PBO, but no noticeable improvement. I read that Ryzen starts throttling around 75°C, yet my CPU stayed near 70°C during the last test. I reinstalled Windows two days ago and it didn't help. Here are my specs: CPU – Ryzen 9 3900X, Cooler – Coolermaster MA610P, GPU – Sapphire Nitro+ RX6800 XT, RAM – Asus Strix X570-E, Memory – Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB @ 3200Mhz, PSU – EVGA 750w. What should I try next, or should I upgrade to the 5800X3D?

Zen 2 is no longer suitable and will likely slow down the 6800XT in demanding games. I recall my 5900X was a limitation for my 6950XT. Upgrading to the 5800X3D made a big difference, eliminating frame drops completely.

Your 7800X3D struggles with high frame rates in MW2, just like the 3900 model.

It's worth noting that the numbers I see don't quite match what GPU Check reports. I'm hoping for around 140 FPS on native 1440 at medium settings, which seems reasonable. However, the average I've seen is closer to 90 at medium. It looks like GPU Check might be inaccurate, especially with the 5800X/6800XT setup.

The term "completely" refers to a full or total change. After adjusting the power plan, ensure all settings are fully applied and consistent across both the normal and control panels.

Checked GPU status and found it to be extremely poor quality—almost as frustrating as the bottleneck tester. It provides random numbers without considering the game being played. Such a waste of time.
