Hello, I attempted to push my Ryzen 5 3600x to 4.3GHz @ 1.4v and performed a stability check with AIDA64. The temps remained between 70 and 80°C, never going past 80 degrees. Regarding safety, those temperatures seem manageable for a CPU under load. Your build looks solid—motherboard, cooler, RAM, and chassis all in place.

Temperature is acceptable. Core temperature is slightly elevated. I've noticed others suggesting a restart at 1.4, but I don't plan to do that regularly. I'll limit it to a maximum of 1.375. This aligns with recommendations from Manny and the source we referenced earlier. Just observe how your performance progresses. Most users achieve around 4.3-4.4GHz. EDIT: The AMD source advises against 1.375. I mistaken that earlier, sorry! Other participants expressed worries about 1.3x being excessive. Check the details below for further clarification! It's a big misunderstanding. The information isn't found here, and experts don't advise it. If I were a gambler, 1.375V would likely harm the silicone in most lower binned 3000 chips, and probably many 3k chips overall.

The original reference doesn't cover this aspect. Following the AMD perspective is safe. 1.375 seems acceptable for me, caseking Germany plus a few names I didn’t recall. The issue lies in people urging you to exceed that limit. The CPU handles boosts temporarily, mainly for short bursts; it’s related to turbo management. You’re right about misrepresenting the source—I meant to say: "That’s what Manny others and the previous source advised." Sorry for the mistake! I still stick with 1.375, running it under water on a 3900x. Yes, this will cause faster wear compared to stock/PBO or moderate overclocking. But the wear happens gradually. If my CPU fails in 10 years, I’m okay since I’ll replace it. That’s why I prefer overclocking. A boosted setup with higher turbo pressure without reinforcing the engine won’t last as long as a stock one. Still, that’s what I understand from the point of view. More power means shorter lifespan if pushed too hard. For cars with boost, this isn’t ideal, and for CPUs with voltage adjustments, it’s similar. Beyond degradation, it won’t make the CPU fail suddenly—it just slows it down. This happened to my 4670k; I pushed it hard underwater (exact voltages fading), ran it for five years, then it became unstable. So I cut it down to 100Mhz and a few volts, waited until upgrading to Ryzen. Regarding binning: lower-end parts usually sit in lower voltage ranges. But there’s always a limit. Lower binned chips need more voltage to hit the same speed, which isn’t practical. You shouldn’t push it that far unless you’re comfortable with significant loss of performance. Voltage is too sensitive. Make sure you don’t drop it to 1.5V—it could cause damage. This was just a joke, but it would have gotten hot and degraded after a year or so. But you get the idea.

Well I recommend that because I am pretty sure this will not degrade a chip that fast + it was recommended by people I trust (der8uer, Caseking etc.). I got my 3900x a few weeks after launch (delays...) and am running this voltage nearly 24/7 on full thrust (BOINC and F@H). No problemo so far. But ok maybe I should explain the general risk of OCing when I give recommendations? Well I told max recommendation 1.375. Maybe I should have said MAX with the risk of some degradation. Beides that I dont think that a bit degradation and needing to go down 100Mhz = damage. Youre still overperfomlng compared to what stock is. With this degradation you can still go back on lower OCs or stock. As I did with the 4670k. But do you have the link to this reddit guy? Idd love to have a read. cus 1.28 seems real low. And: One factor we didn't take into account here is MOBO VRM. If youre using a bad VRM with much ripple that will degrade the CPU faster compared to one with less Ripple and stuf. OPs Gigabyte X570 Auros Elite however should be fine in terms of ripple, especially for the 3600x
