It looks like the short-term solution is limiting performance to 10-20 frames per second, likely due to thermal throttling. I’m not sure if this affects all models of the laptop or just my specific one.
Did you modify the 3D settings in the Nvidia Control Panel? I've noticed similar problems with certain laptops over time that use Optimus. Most modern Nvidia dGPU laptops with CPUs that include an integrated GPU tend to experience this. It likely stems from a negotiation between the GPUs, which can be checked by observing performance in Task Manager during gaming—typically showing minimal usage on the iGPU and full usage on the dGPU. This behavior usually happens when the internal display is wired to the iGPU, letting the iGPU act as an intermediary for the dGPU, saving power so the laptop can switch off the dGPU while keeping the display active. I only have one laptop that fits this setup: an Asus ROG 17.3" from 2016, an early G-sync model with a directly wired display to the dGPU.
