I just got a brand new laptop ( ASUS Vivobook 16X K3605ZF). It has an RTX2050 and 13th gen i5 processor but it's randomly dropping from a stable 70-80FPS at 100% GPU Utilization down to 10-30FPS at 10-40% utilization for half of the game. It is random and really frustrating to play with. Is this issue specific to my laptop or also similar ones as well? I can get it replaced if it is specifically mine since I am still within the return period. I've attached a clip below as an example. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. Thanks! Windows 11. Intel® Core™ i5-12450H Processor. RAM: 16 GB / Storage: 512 GB SSD. Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 4 GB. Full HD screen / 120 Hz. Battery life: Up to 9 hours. No overclocking

Turn off the Intel built-in GPU in Device Manager and check if the issue resolves. Ensure you're using the high-performance power plan and only run the laptop on the charger.

Turned off the device and now it’s being identified as the "Microsoft Basic Display Driver." The game is running very slowly, about 5 frames per second. I’m trying to find a stable power setting but can’t adjust anything else. This problem occurs whether the device is plugged in or not.

I believe I've identified the problem, but it's unclear where to make adjustments.

I believed it relied on integrated graphics because it mentioned "Connected to UHD Graphics," yet I made COD work with the GPU, but the problem remains unchanged. It doesn’t seem related to integrated graphics at all.

Device likely relies on Optimus, meaning turning off the integrated graphics turns off the main GPU for the screen. It's wiser to manage the Nvidia Control Panel and assign the preferred GPU to the dedicated one in 3D settings. However, there might be thermal throttling; this occurs before the power balancing features introduced with RTX 3000 laptops, which allow the GPU to run at nearly full power. I suspect the CPU frequency is decreasing, leading to lower GPU usage.

Yes, there are methods to address thermal throttling such as improving cooling, adjusting power settings, or updating hardware drivers.

I recently purchased it, so I don’t expect it to collect much dust.
