It could be a simple question or just my thoughts, but I’ve observed a noticeable drop in cooling and performance lately. Usually I’d blame it on the system maturing, but most components are only around four years old. My RTX 2080 Super is just two years old now. More details: when I purchased the GPU, both CPU and GPU temperatures were near 35-40°C in idle mode, rarely exceeding 65-70°C during newer games at 2K. I haven’t made any changes since then, and my PC has ample space for airflow, so ventilation shouldn’t be an issue. However, even in idle, both CPU and GPU are now around 50-55°C. Under load, the CPU temperatures stay stable, but the GPU quickly reaches 85°C, even in older titles like Rainbow Six Siege. I’ve cleaned the system thoroughly and replaced the GPU thermal paste with Arctic MX-4 Thermal Compound, which lowered temperatures by about 15°C for a couple of days before they returned to normal. I also removed the case’s heat-dissipating panels to test airflow, but results were unchanged. I understand 50°C in idle is fine, but the increase is concerning. Additionally, I’m facing new performance problems: once I could play tough games and stream high-quality videos without issues, now videos buffer constantly. Even apps like Spotify are displaying poorly. It seems unusual, but it hasn’t been the same before.
