Performance issues with Rust at reduced frame rates.
Hello,
I’ve been playing Rust on my PC recently and I've observed that the frame rate isn’t meeting my expectations. I understand that Rust has some optimization challenges. In open areas with approximately 150 players, I consistently achieve over 80 frames per second. However, when I'm closer to other players in more populated zones, my FPS drops to around 50.
I’ve experimented with various FPS configurations and launch options without success. I also reduced all in-game settings to their lowest levels, but there was no impact on performance. Recently, I upgraded from 8GB to 16GB of RAM, yet the frame rate remains unchanged. Please review my system specifications and provide any recommendations you may have.
System Details:
-Memory: 16GB DDR3 3200MHz
-Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 1070
-Processor: Intel i7-6700 @ 3.4 GHz
-Storage: SSD with ample free space.
Rust suffers significantly from poor optimization; even with an NVMe SSD, I experience minor stutters when loading subsequent portions of the terrain. Unfortunately, this is inherent to the game’s design, and Facepunch continues to address these issues. Experiment with playing smaller maps – they will generally provide improved performance!
It appears that both the central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) consistently operate below their maximum capacity, suggesting a suboptimal design.
