Performance issues with Minecraft on RTX are confusing.
I've noticed many reviews discussing Minecraft performance with RTX on. The Nvidia site lists examples using 3080, 2080, and 1080 models. Their setup has a 5950x and 32 GB RAM. The 2080 model seems to show around 45 FPS, which feels quite low. My rig includes an i9-10850K, 32 GB RAM, and an RTX 2080. In my tests, I'm averaging about 223 FPS at 1920x1080 and 145 FPS on my 4K screen. My brother has a 9900k and a 2070, getting roughly 20 FPS compared to mine. I'm puzzled as my system runs significantly faster than what Nvidia claims. Also, both our tests ran at full settings with maximum render distance. Anyone know why I'm seeing such better performance?
Minecraft RTX struggles with performance. It relies on complex shader paths that are highly resource-intensive, and its optimization is lacking. Earlier, Linus shared a video using the 2080 graphics card, which produced comparable results.
Nvidia does not show the resolution that they tested at but either way my 4k scores are much higher than their reported numbers. My guess was that they were testing at 1080p for the best case scenario but it is not said. Here is the graph that I am looking at.
