That was the firmware update. Apologies for the mix-up. Earlier this year my younger sibling received one and its SSD kept freezing repeatedly. He was stuck with that device for about four months, haha. I got him a crucial BX500 instead, and since then there have been no issues. Excellent SSD at a low price.
Or even a newer A400 with a fresh OS, replace the old one or bring it back. If you need something reliable, not Kingston, just pick something working properly—don’t waste time on the bad one. I own an A400 with 120GB NVMe that’s running smoothly and performs well in tests.

Do you own a Kignston A400 or a SanDisk A400? Also, the Kingston A400 is available only in M.2 SATA III form factor—it doesn’t support NVMe, which uses a PCI-E interface. The A400 handles sequential reads and writes fine, but random operations suffer a significant slowdown.

Another reputable option might cost around $25, but if you can’t afford it right now, back up what you need and reinstall on the working Western Digital drive you already have. Thanks for the tips – feel free to try Steam or Origin later once you can afford an SSD.
