Hey everyone, I've purchased the new components for my PC – Asrock B450M Pro4-F Mobo Corsair vengeance 3000mhz RAM (CMK16GX4M2D3000C16) and Ryzen 5 1600x CPU. After configuring everything, I realized the RAM only reaches 2133Mhz. I've tried enabling XMP and adjusting it to higher speeds like 3000, 2933, and 2666Mhz, but nothing changes. If I set it below 2133Mhz, the system boots and then shuts down immediately, restarting three times before it starts again at 2133Mhz. The motherboard runs BIOS version 1.60, which the AsRock site warns isn't ideal for Summit Ridge CPUs – my model seems to match. Can I revert the BIOS to an older version? Would that be a safe option? Anyone have suggestions on how to get this RAM to work correctly? Thanks in advance.
The motherboard guide typically outlines which slots are suitable for dual stick setups. If you followed those instructions properly, it could point to a BIOS problem. I explored a setup with just one RAM stick. It worked well at 2933mhz in both A1/A2 and A2/B2 slots. But once I put both sticks back together, it drops to 2133mhz and can't go higher. This suggests a possible issue with the system or the slots, maybe indicating a hardware or configuration problem.
Three reboots before the clock speeds up indicate problems at post. I can observe the xmp-values, but are the set drama-values the same? You might need to verify if command-rate is at 2, and consider running CL18 20 20 38 manually at 3000(2933).
