Hello, I've been using my RTX 3090 for nearly two years now, and I've noticed several performance drops compared to my RTX 2080 Ti. For instance, in Ark Survival, I often see random frame drops between 30 to 40 fps. It might be the game itself, but I've experienced similar issues in Deep Rock Galactic, City Skylines, and older titles like Call of Duty World At War. I initially thought it could be due to a newer card or driver problems. After some time, I suspect it might be related to my own system or a faulty component. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Verify that Vertical Synchronization or additional stabilization isn't active. Disabling it restores FPS for low-refresh displays, avoiding artifacts and tearing... As noted.
I understand your point, though it seems like a bit of a stretch. Drivers are likely set up, and having GPU acceleration could boost performance by around 10 frames per second, which might make a noticeable difference.
I can assure you it’s just an average performance when it comes to how it runs. The developers shouldn’t have been permitted to build another game with such poor performance after initial play. Also keep in mind, the more structures and dinosaurs you’ll encounter, the greater the performance drops and crashes you’ll see. Ark requires a lot of tweaking in the settings to get everything optimized; otherwise you’ll face difficulties. Cod is similarly lacking in optimization, and City Skylines is mainly a CPU-driven simulation, so I don’t anticipate high frame rates. Deep Rock has noticeable slowdowns on my system in certain areas, but overall it should be manageable. You should avoid ultra/max settings—they’re risky and will cause major performance issues in specific sections. Playing at high settings will generally make things run smoother. Other tips: ensure your card isn’t overheating, as the memory can get quite hot after extended use on a 3090 and may throttle, which often leads to noticeable drops.
