Hello! I've been noticing performance hiccups with Assassin's Creed Syndicate, especially stuttering and frame drops, while using a GTX 1060 6gb. My CPU (i5-6500 with Evo 212 cooler) is handling everything well, but the GPU isn't contributing much. I'm trying to reach 1080p with a stable 60 FPS. I've heard some mods can cause problems, so I appreciate any advice you can offer.

I made a mistake and didn't get an overclockable CPU during my initial setup.

Then get 7700k and you're set.

I would say 6700k, it's much more affordable—around £50. The CPU is the same, except the 7700k has a higher clock speed. My 6700k can and does reach 4.6GHz easily. It's better to choose the 6700k instead of the 7700k.

I was considering that idea, but it's tough to get an i7-7700k for under $400 right now. I almost missed some good offers on eBay at the start of the year.
@MrIceCremeLollipop hadn't thought about the 6700k either. Should I stick with my Hyper 212 Evo or upgrade more?

I have a 212 LED (same as the evo) and my temperatures stay under 60°C at 4.6ghz while gaming, and the fans don’t increase much. That’s more than fine. They’re also solid stock.

Great news! And impressive, the costs for used 6700k's are significantly lower now. Performance-wise, there are still comparable results for games with similar CPU needs.

What you're referring to is the performance of the games you mentioned in your original comment. Considering a benchmark for a 1070/6700k setup, the CPU usage is around 50-60%, not overclocked. I can't really discuss Skyrim on this account because you might have different mods or videos. But whatever you run, you shouldn't encounter any CPU bottlenecks, especially with a 1060.

It seems you're looking for a concise summary of the previous message. The original text simply thanked the advice given and expressed curiosity about CPU usage in modded Skyrim.
