Your frame rate keeps dropping briefly, then returns to normal, and after a few minutes the issue repeats. You noticed your CPU temperature reaches 255°C when FPS drops. This suggests your cooling system is likely failing, possibly due to a dead cooler or overheating hardware.

Determine CPU temperature by checking sensors or monitoring tools; 255 is too high and suggests a faulty sensor.

I rely on coretemp to check CPU heat levels. When the frame rate stabilizes, temperature drops to around 45°C.
