Confirmed life detection: My current setup is functioning perfectly, just a test with available hardware. Used identical overclock settings via MSI Afterburner on my RTX 4090. Task manager screenshots were taken to showcase performance, though the system was busy launching apps and downloading Warframe through Steam, which was limited by CPU capacity (~800Mb/s). It's currently part of the iGPU community. I've discussed CPU limitations in MMO/multiplayer titles, but I only have text-based data so far. I'm setting up a thread to share more details about performance issues even at 4K resolution. I removed my 4090 and used it with my RM1000x and the 4000D case.
Showing CPU limitations in MMOs presents significant difficulties. The inconsistency between each playthrough is substantial—far greater than in other titles—which explains why few critics actually try them. What approach will you use to consider factors like other players, unpredictable events, and server problems?
Its already quite obvious in Warframe, I'm not giving myself a challenge like a 5800x3D vs 7800x3D, its a 4790k with 2400MHz DDR3 vs a 7950x3D with 6000MHz DDR5 (noting both are running PCIe 4x M.2 SSDs, 4790k having its 2015 era AHCI 3.0 4x SM951, 7950x3D having an sn850x). I'm already seeing half the framerate in the single player areas, where there's literally no players. Stuttery mess with sub 100 fps in a relatively dense part (Baro at the Earth relay currently).
Frame rates are determined using a standard number that stays reliable under different conditions. Warframe performs well, reaching up to 1200 fps at 1080p. 4790k versus 7950x3D Warframe: Orbiter – outside Earth, observing from afar – 500 vs 540 fps. Baro, with a populated relay, offers 70-160 frames per second depending on player count, compared to 280-400 fps for Benelus (void) defense solo with no enemies. In a solo scenario against enemies killing objects, it drops to around 440 vs 470 fps. E prime (earth) on exterminate missions runs 140-220 fps with occasional stutters, while 220-300 fps appears when there are no special events. Boethius (mercury) with four players achieves 100ms latency and 110-220 fps, occasionally stuttering to 300-420 fps. Sharpless (phobos) struggles to match 4-player performance, dropping to 240-420 fps with noticeable dips to 180 fps when a special event appears. In Plains solo, SP standing at Eidelon spawned 165 vs 276 fps. Cetus (high pop) fluctuates between 45 and 150 fps depending on player count, maxing out at 0. The lowest values occur with the most players where performance hits a wall. Saturn mission table shows 220 vs 560 fps for Cassini speed solo, then 200-300 fps in smooth mode. Cassini in 1080p offers 500 vs 1200 fps, while 4K solo gives 500 fps. Kuva survival fissure with four hosts averages 80-105 fps, dropping to 60 fps with stuttering at 240 fps (4K). Duviri undercroft defense with four players runs 90ms and stays mostly smooth, while 110ms solo gives 180-240 fps. WoW in Orgrimmar outside the first valley bank provides 160 vs 330 fps. For WoW, a decent CPU is crucial; upgrading it can make a big difference if you’re willing to upgrade the GPU, especially when playing primarily in WoW.
This testing aims to highlight what others have already observed in similar performance scenarios. It’s about confirming expectations rather than introducing new information.
They avoid testing MMO-style games since they’re difficult to manage. I’m pulling in at least some reliable information that I can handle thanks to my years of experience in those titles.
