Performance issues in Minecraft may indicate a CPU bottleneck.
You're experiencing significant performance drops when playing Minecraft with your current setup. It seems like your CPU is struggling to keep up with the GPU load, especially during chunk loading. The issue might be related to how your system handles rendering and memory usage. Consider checking your Java version for 64-bit compatibility and running a virus scan. Upgrading to a higher-end CPU like the 13400 could also help, but first diagnose whether it's a CPU or GPU bottleneck.
If it functions flawlessly with 1060, it’s likely a GPU driver problem. Update your driver by downloading the latest version from the official site. Also, verify that your BIOS and chipset are current.
Minecraft depends more on CPU speed than GPU power. If you're experiencing issues, upgrading your CPU might help. Are you playing at full settings? The greater the strain on your GPU, the less obvious your limitation will be. I think you're likely running at 1080P resolution. You have two choices: upgrade to a higher resolution display (like 1440P) which forces your GPU to work harder, or consider a more powerful chip like the 12600K. You don't need to go all the way to the 13th generation since the 12th is sufficient and saves you some money. The 5700XT significantly outperforms the 1060.
I recorded some gameplay footage: The first clip shows me playing on my Raspberry Pi 4 server. It won’t consume much CPU since the server runs separately, and the slow loading is due to the Pi 4 being pushed to its limits. The file is 2023-05-05 04-24-44.mp4. The second video is a singleplayer session where the server was hosted locally, matching the render distance to the previous setup (10 units). It still experienced stutters, getting worse at maximum load. The file is 2023-05-05 04-25-58.mp4. Based on this, it seems the CPU was the main issue. Upgrading to a 12400f might help, or should I aim for something higher?
Oh, Yeah. I forgot about that. It's my only monitor at the moment (I literally got it for 10 cents). Until I find a suitable 75hz 1080p panel. I didn't think it would kill performance that much though. I wanted to go for 12100f So I would be able to buy a new monitor lol. But a 12400f would be feasible. Combined I feel like that would fix my problem, The GPU having to run a 1080p 75hz monitor and a bit better of a CPU. Should I go with 13400f instead though? Its newer and only $20
You're experiencing a minor stutter only occasionally, which suggests the problem might be related to frame rate or rendering settings. The hardware you're using (4090 with i9 13900K) supports high performance, so the issue could stem from game-specific optimizations or system limitations. Try adjusting in-game settings like resolution, render distance, and frame rate to see if it resolves.
