I believe the standard voltage settings could be reduced now after the BIOS update. When I load the defaults, it displays the 800 Cinebench points only when I activate the ASUS OC profile or Intel fail-save. Otherwise, performance returns to normal but at the expense of higher power consumption, possibly causing the chip to degrade over time if the updated defaults aren't sufficient.
I understand better now. Your writing style isn’t ideal for my language level. You shouldn’t expect high scores on Cinebench with default settings. (Any chance to replace the warranty?) Edited June 9, 2025 by leclod
I'm also struggling with my English, that's what I'm trying to say and why I got confused, but it looks like everything is about voltage, right?
it purchased it a few months after its release in germany. the standard warranty is two years, so i wasn't sure i'd read anything about an extended warranty for those chips. but if i have to bring it in, i'm without a pc and don't know how long i'll be using it. i think i'll just accept it and run it with higher voltage. once it starts showing error codes or similar issues, i'll upgrade to an amd 9800x3d since even if they replace it, it's still a ticking time bomb.
It’s a decent thought but I’ve moved on from the 13th and 14th generation chips—they consume a lot of power and lose performance quickly. Buying a 12900k might work since they’re less prone to degradation, though I’m worried it could slow down my 5090.
Newer BIOS releases are expected to support either Undervolt Protection or IA-CEP, along with Intel Current Excursion Protection. When you enable ThrottleStop and access the FIVR interface, it will indicate whether Undervolt Protection is active. Attempting to lower the voltage while UVP or CEP is on can cause performance to halve. This issue likely arose after the BIOS update. Monitoring tools will display the CPU at full capacity, but internally it may be throttling significantly—operating near half speed instead of optimal performance. Many users who suggest BIOS updates aren’t informed about this potential speed reduction.
This clarifies the 800 rating, yet it's surprising that the latest default VCore isn't sufficient for this CPU anymore. Probably the original VCore from two and a half years ago was much stronger, which makes sense since crashes often happen when VCore is too low. Thanks for sharing—I usually expect instability if the VCore is weak.
