I bought another RAM module with the same kit, matching its speed and dimensions. However, when I adjusted the BIOS setting to 3600MHz, the game would crash if I lowered it to 3000MHz. It functioned properly only after installing the second RAM module.
I think you're referring to a similar setup with your 5900X and Tuf B550-PLUS using PVB432G320CK6. Initially, there were unstable problems with non-QVL'd RAM (Ballistix doesn't match up on any QVL). Once those were fixed by making the RAM QVL'd for the board, DOCP wouldn't auto-detect the suggested speeds and clocks. I had to adjust them manually, but it won't boot if I set the frequency to 3200 even though it works at lower speeds. Another thought is your board might not be compatible with that much RAM. It's best to check the manufacturer's QVL for your board rather than third-party sources. Updated November 3, 2022 by An0maly_76 Added more details
ASUS ROG Strix B550-F is a high-performance gaming motherboard supporting AMD AM4 Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 and 3rd Gen Ryzen ATX. It features G.Skill Trident Z NEO 16GB memory with 288-pin SDRAM (PC4-28800) at 3600MHz, dual-channel configuration. The system also includes a 2x8GB RAM kit and a 1.35V DDR4-3600 CL18-22-22-42 memory model. Additional components like the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X are compatible for enhanced gaming and workload performance.
Checked ASUS validation for the RAM SKU on that board and processor. Based on that, I should verify your DOCP configurations to ensure proper detection. My setup didn’t recognize them, so I had to adjust manually. However, it won’t reach the advertised 3200 MHz, so I lowered it to 2400. *shrugs* Updated November 4, 2022 by An0maly_76 Added more info
