I tried and it didn't really change the frame rate. At the time, it worked much smoother. This is what's happening! It slows down because it's near 60 but not quite there.

that looks terrible! The problem is isn't that I don't have enough power to run it - I do - it's that something is wrong with it and it isn't running properly.

It seems the game update might have affected performance. Previously stable at 75, it now runs at 61.

It's not just me after all... That's pretty cool. I thought Rockstar had done it before with GTA IV, but I wasn't sure. Now I'm more confident. I've gathered a bit more data, and after testing it out, it seems to work fine when you're just sitting there. But if you try to get in a car without moving, it starts acting up again!

It's worth noting that the drivers I've used have been similar, and neither really changed performance. Regarding the IV, it was good to have a 1.0 version available for installation, and I was able to update it to one of the newer versions, which performed exceptionally well.

Open GTA V via Steam, navigate to properties, then updates. In the dropdown, choose "only update the game when I launch it." This should resolve the issue even if the description suggests otherwise.

This could be useful. Now I just need to locate a full collection of older files. Actually, I spent some time tweaking it and things are progressing nicely. I ran the nvidia tool with "ideal" settings, which were pretty extreme, but fixing a few silly suggestions improved performance. It's still early, and the program stutters a bit when I run it, probably due to my HDD. I'm moving it back to the SSD and will test further. If that works, I'm not sure what to say. Maybe we just fixed it after so many changes?

Yup, works perfectly now honestly, I don't know what to say... the game worked fine, nothing happened to it, and then one day it didn't. I changed all the settings and then put them BACK WHERE THEY WERE TO BEGIN WITH and now it works fine again...
