I updated my laptop to Windows 10 v1903 a week ago. After that, the performance of my system slowly started to degrade, browsers would lag, video players would lag quite a lot, windows explorer is also slow. 2 days ago I installed a clean copy of Windows 10 v1809 (because the problems started after the v1903 update and it was running very well on the v1809) on my laptop, installed all the drivers, and updated the windows to latest and I still suffer from the same performance issues. I also ran Windows Performance Recorder and the result of that is uploaded to OneDrive and here's the link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ag5mTctbb9iIhld7HS7-...W?e=nJYSga The specs of my laptop are: Core i5 - 8250U NVIDIA Geforce MX150 (2 GB) 8 GB RAM 1 TB HDD Any advice is appreciated. Edit: I have the same video lag in Ubuntu. Edited June 9, 2019 by BatmanwParents I have to add additinal information.

This might not be related to Windows, but your device could be getting too hot due to accumulated dust. If it isn’t, perhaps you adjusted certain configurations in an earlier version of Windows and now you’ve forgotten to reapply them (like changing Power Options). Upgrading may undo some of those adjustments.

I put Windows 10 version 1903 on an old laptop and saw it running very slowly, especially when compared to Windows 7. After that, I tried Windows 8.1 Pro and it felt much smoother. I’m not sure why the newer versions became slower.

It's tough to say for sure. It seems the old laptop might not match today's standards. I used Opera six years ago on a Pentium 160MHz processor—it ran smoothly back then, but the newer version lagged significantly. Things shift when upgrading; the latest version became much quicker while the older one slowed down. Modern operating systems need modern hardware, which is typical. YET—you might invest some time setting up Windows 10, turning off all features absent in Windows 7 (including newer security options in Defender), and your system could run faster. But likely, like most users, you prefer having everything enabled and a snappier OS.

Good point. I really just use this old laptop for websurfing and email while on the go. For now I will leave win 8.1 on here.
