Performance issues after upgrading to Windows 10?
About a year ago I moved from Windows 7 to 8.1 and noticed a significant slowdown. I wasn’t sure why, but it became really bothersome. After a complete reinstall, everything works perfectly now. With Windows 10 coming up, I’m curious whether it will improve or worsen my gaming experience and overall PC performance. Should I update drivers or install a new OS to fix this? Or is a fresh installation the only solution?
I'm with you on that. I'll wait until I understand how BO3 works before updating.
The performance gap typically comes from the driver. Upgrading Windows doesn't automatically improve drivers. It's crucial to ensure you have the most recent ones. Unfortunately, AMD hasn't been very proactive with their Windows 10 driver updates, unlike Nvidia. I understand Microsoft reached out to AMD for assistance with their drivers. This makes me a bit concerned for AMD GPU users. Even in Windows 8, their drivers have been quite sluggish. Still, for this particular game on an older Windows 10 version, things seem more encouraging for AMD users.
Performance should remain consistent across the board, particularly on a gaming setup. Minor issues can be resolved with a fresh install—even a system reset from settings is possible without needing a USB drive anymore. I upgraded from a genuine Windows 7 Home Premium OEM copy found on Google by searching the specified ISO file, and everything proceeded smoothly, including activation which didn’t require any extra steps. (The Windows 10 tray icon was included.) Note: Cortana uses a lot of resources during indexing but is still quite useful; you can disable it if needed after installing a native language pack.
