Performance is reduced compared to previous levels.
My performance in Valorant has dropped compared to before. Previously I averaged about 350-400 frames, sometimes exceeding 400, though it wasn’t consistent. Occasionally I reached 500 frames. Now I’m seeing around 250-300 frames with most times above 300, but not stable. I rarely see 400 anymore. Recently, with a 240Hz monitor, I’ve noticed drops to around 150 FPS. Things I tried: turned off all startup programs in Task Manager, ran Discord in the background only. Could this be Valorant becoming more demanding or my PC slowing down? Maybe something hidden is affecting performance but I can’t see it. My system specs are: Ryzen 5 5600, RX 4060, 500W power supply, 2TB SSD. Anyone have any suggestions? I’m running out of ideas and think I might have missed something important. If needed, installing Linux could help determine if Windows is the issue, though I wasn’t sure at first.
I explored various approaches to address the issue. I checked if a replacement monitor was needed and reviewed any updates to software or hardware settings. It seems the performance drop might be related to frame rate, possibly due to in-game adjustments or system changes.
I had the monitor for quite some time. Hardware stayed the same except for the Ryzen 5 5600, which arrived recently—only a few months ago. FPS has dropped slightly over the past weeks, even though no OS or software updates were made. This issue also shows up more on older maps.
I haven't really attempted fixing it since I'm unsure where the issue is. I've looked for signs and believe it might be related to the CPU, though I'm not completely confident. The CPU isn't overheating much but appears to be working near full capacity on most cores. I don't know what steps to take next.
