Performance in Far Cry 4 was notably poor.
Hello, I'm currently playing Far Cry 4 again and I'm seeing the frame rate isn't great. When the game is set to high, I get around 40-50 fps, but on ultra it drops to about 30-40 fps and drops often below 30. I tried unparking the CPU and setting its priority to high, but it still feels strange that my machine can't run the game smoothly. From the afterburner, I notice the GPU isn't doing much and the Task Manager shows Far Cry 4 using around 45% CPU. Nvidia is turned off, and I'm not using any anti-aliasing. Specs: CPU: 8320 @ 5GHz, GPU: RX 480, 8GB RAM, 1600MHz. Thanks in advance and sorry for the English.
Identify if any cores are operating at full capacity. It might be limited to just four of the eight available cores.
Your GPU should manage this easily. The CPU is fine with eight cores, though it isn't ideal for gaming. You might want to use a tool like CPU-Controll to make the GPU use all cores. It seems to work without issues.
I’m looking for the exact CPU settings that cause performance issues, even though reducing graphics improves frame rates without changing GPU load.
