Mentioned earlier about the RAM setup issues. Upgraded from 2400Mhz to 3200Mhz, and the new RAM shows noticeably better performance. Previously I experienced typical drops from 150fps to around 100, then improved to 150fps with 30-40. I had to adjust the RAM placement and reset the BIOS. CPU-Z confirms dual-channel speed is correct. I’m exhausted from troubleshooting, and I haven’t had a functional PC in over five years of building them.

6700k @4.5 Ghz (1.325v) 1070 Stix NO OC Corsair 3200Mhz Pro 16gb (remaining ram was G-skill 2400Mhz) Samsung Evo 860 EVGA G2 gold 650w Experienced with PC issues, from verifying frame rates and voltages to troubleshooting frame times and power levels because I've never had a functional machine. Can't afford to replace it from scratch.

What motherboard make and model are you using? Did you turn on XMP in the BIOS? Otherwise, based on JEDEC standards, it will operate at DDR4-2133 / 2400.

The CPU memory controller supports a maximum DDR4 speed of 2133mhz. You likely ran smoothly at 2400mhz with the 4.5ghz overclock. EDIT - your board likely has its own controller, and your CPU its own. EDIT 2 - Intel specifies DDR4-1866/2133 at 1.2V and DDR3L-1333/1600 at 1.35V to prevent the MCH from operating beyond its limits, which could cause performance problems. https://community.intel.com/t5/Processor...anguage=en

XMP is activated. The Asus Strix Z270H shows XMP CAS latency states at 16 in the CPU-z under "SPD" timing table, but the Memory tab displays 17.

Memory section is the actual process handling. SPD section displays the RAM settings it’s supposed to run. When they differ and XMP is active, something may be wrong. Check if your DRAM frequency appears correctly in the Memory view—for example, DDR4-3000 should appear as 1500 MHz. If you used XMP with your earlier DDR4-2400 unit and didn’t turn it off or reset BIOS to defaults initially, the two XMP profiles from different units could be conflicting.
