Recent observations show my PC is not performing as well as before. Previously, Rainbow Six Siege ran smoothly at 100+ fps on Ultra, but now it's stuck around 80–120 fps. Witcher 3 was stable at 60 fps on Ultra without issues, yet it's now capped at 60 fps. The same goes for my gaming experience—apparently I'm seeing performance similar to Ultra settings even when the game shouldn't be that demanding. I've checked temperatures and cleaned the system, but the problem persists. Anyone have insights or suggestions?
I also found this solution effective.
Go to the executable you want to run, then right-click and select Properties.
Choose Compatibility and click Disable Fullscreen Optimizations.
I don't restart my PC regularly, but I always check if the drivers are up to date.
Is there any background activity? Performance drops with Chrome, and it gets even worse—consider a clean Windows installation.
You probably turned off and on the computer before installing the tablet update. The latest Nvidia drivers are installed now.
It's conceivable that the Meltdown/Spectre updates are impacting your gaming experience. Performance changes can differ from game to game, but various components—from drivers to CPU microcode and the Windows Kernel—are being updated, often at the cost of speed. The timing of these updates may mean you're only noticing effects now. Early versions are probably not fully optimized, with improved alternatives expected later.
Several components belong to a Windows update, others depend on UEFI functionality, and some represent fresh software releases like Nvidia's updated drivers with added safeguards. Use the inSpectre tool to check installed patches and enable/disable features as needed.
Sure, I’ll make sure to attempt it. I’ll keep updating this subject whenever I find more information.
