Hello to all readers. I just got a 3600 and it’s performing really well! But I’m seeing high voltages at startup (around 1.4V) while idle or playing games. Sometimes the voltage and clock speeds jump briefly, but only for a moment—during that spike my CPU temperature rises just a bit before dropping back. In Ryzen Master it stays between 50-55°C, whereas during games it climbs to 70-72°C. I’ve never experienced this with my Ryzen 7 1700X, but others say it’s normal. I also have a stock cooler and know I should upgrade. I was thinking about the Hyper 212 Evo but couldn’t find it online. Do anyone have suggestions for a solid air cooler? I prefer not to use liquid coolers, but if someone has a good, reliable one they recommend, please share. One more thing—I have all my drivers updated and Windows up to date, but I don’t have an AMD Ryzen Power Plan. I tried with my 1700X, but it didn’t help. My motherboard is an MSI MPG x570 Gaming Plus and I’m using an Asus Radeon RX 5700 XT. I forgot to mention that after restarting, BIOS shows my CPU temperature as 39-40°C, and once I open the OS it starts spinning up the fans and Ryzen Master reads 50-55°C.
The stock cooler functions properly. Regarding voltage, the third generation Ryzen models tend to require slightly more power during idle and under load. Latest BIOS updates help reduce this issue, though it's generally not a major concern—especially if the cooler maintains temperatures below 80 degrees during operation.
Following AGESA 1.0.0.3 ABBA, the elevated idle voltage should be resolved. I frequently notice the voltage falling to 1.0v during low load or idle. My 3900x remains at 32-33°C as per Ryzen Master.
On the MSI site for my motherboard it doesn't list the BIOS versions, but it mentions the latest BIOS is 7C37vA5.
