I recently upgraded to a new display, switching from a 1080p 60Hz monitor to a 1440p 160Hz model (Asus PG329Q). Before the change I played Call of Duty Warzone without issues, achieving over 120 FPS at high settings and streaming smoothly. Moving to the newer monitor caused a noticeable drop in performance. Currently I’m seeing 50-58 FPS, with occasional spikes around 60-75, but frequent drops create noticeable lag. I’ve adjusted all settings to low, yet improvements are minimal—only slight gains. To try and restore stability, I switched back to 1080p resolution and windowed mode with low settings, but performance remains similar to the original monitor’s low settings. I’ve also enabled DLSS, yet FPS hasn’t improved meaningfully. Sometimes playing on larger maps like Caldera results in lower FPS, while smaller areas such as Rebirth Island don’t show much change. I’m using DisplayPort and have reinstalled the latest drivers. G-sync is off and Vsync is disabled. My system specs include an RTX 2070, an i7-4790K processor, 16GB RAM, DDR3 at 1600MHz, a 1080p monitor (Asus PG329Q), a 60W PSU, and an Asus Maximus VII motherboard.

I’m uncertain anything is faulty. The lack of improvement in FPS despite reduced complexity suggests a CPU limitation. Warzone is known for struggling on lower-end systems. There aren’t enough available threads. Increasing from 1080p to 1440p doubles the workload on the GPU, yet CPU usage remains minimal. Did you notice the frame rate didn’t improve when you enlarged the display? Staying steady instead of declining points to a strong CPU bottleneck. A 2070super is comparable to a 3060ti in power consumption. Your CPU and GPU activity might offer further clues. Are you still using that old monitor? Testing it with similar setups could help. Which other titles are you testing against? Edited October 22, 2022 by Bombastinator
