I’m not sure what you’re talking about, but if you have a BIOS firmware update for your motherboard, either from the maker or the laptop (if they’re separate), I suggest you install it. As far as I understand, you probably don’t need any tools at all, though I’m not very familiar with laptops. You definitely wouldn’t need them on a desktop.
