A few months back I brought my laptop to HP for a basic fan swap. Since then, I've noticed issues with abrupt FPS drops when GPU usage plummets suddenly. During gameplay, after a short while the GPU utilization might shift from 70% to 80% and then drop to 30% or less, leading to stuttering and a sharp decrease in FPS for a few seconds. I've looked for possible bottlenecks but found no thermal throttling and no other related signs. The odd thing is these occurrences happen only in specific games—like two and split fiction—and recently started on sifu, no matter the graphics settings. The problem has worsened over time to the point where my whole system freezes occasionally. I've tried all known fixes, including boosting the GPU clock speed in afterburner, reinstalling drivers, and performing a system reboot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My GPU model is a 1065 mobile. ***TLDR: Random FPS dips disrupt gaming and daily use***

You might want to check your battery or try a different power source. This could happen when increased demand is rejected, possibly due to a new battery or supply being required, or if replacing the fan unintentionally affected power delivery.

start by identifying the problem clearly, then check basic components, and follow a step-by-step approach.

Testing the battery is most effective using a multimeter to verify the right voltage output, though it isn’t entirely for beginners. I suggest removing the battery from the device, then checking its behavior with your existing power supply. If issues continue, switch to a new power supply and test again. I worked with an older ROG laptop once—just the power supply was the culprit. This should provide a solid foundation. Feel free to share your progress and I’ll help you further troubleshoot!

Sorry for the delay. Battery condition and performance appear normal. I've experimented with different settings and installed system information tools. When gaming on battery power, the voltage output was around 10.6 V, whereas with my charger it's about 12.7 V. Recently, playing at low settings eliminated lag spikes, but I noticed it still occurs when GPU usage reaches high levels (around 85-90%) even though temperatures stay below 70°C. This happens even while the game runs in the background. I'm unsure what to do and don't want to reset the system again because my university assignments are disruptive. Perhaps I could try booting in safe mode to see if a third-party app is allowed.
