I verified it by checking the results post-switch and confirming the benchmark was executed accurately.

With the newest drivers? That seems unusual. I didn’t notice much improvement in FPS on Mantle; I’m sticking with DX 11 anyway. Mantle isn’t top-notch unless you’re on a lower-end CPU. At least I haven’t seen major gains for those using i5/i7 or single GPU.

Ensure his players have the latest updates. That’s true, though in a game like BF4 it feels quite unusual...

In BF4, it's even more unexpected. I've dealt with all the performance problems out there regarding BF4. The fix is straightforward—use dx11.

Which CPU? High-performance models like Core i5 and i7 that handle DX11’s demands already do well don’t see much improvement, meaning Mantle won’t gain much advantage there. It’s not too shocking to expect a slight drop in performance.

He uses an i5 4670K, similar to mine. I kept most settings unchanged, which resulted in 10fps lower performance.

I observed comparable results for Mantle and DX11 during my single-player benchmark tests.
